International conference - Opportunities for TV channels in the Baltic countries - will be held in Vilnius.

"Opportunities for TV channels in the Baltic countries“ - an international conference about new satellite possibilities in the development of digital TV, Interactive TV and HDTV, as well as EU legal aspects for the switchover from analogue to digital TV - will be held on 2 April 2008 at hotel Novotel in Vilnius.
All Europe is going digital and there are a number of new challenges and possibilities for both TV viewers and content makers. The objective of the conference is to provide information about new opportunities that have now become available with the launch of SIRIUS 4. But it is also to discuss future development of digital television, as well as the possibilities of an EU legislative framework for the digital switchover, the development tendencies and future of TV advertising and how satellite broadcasting effected the amount of TV advertising in the Baltic. Leading Baltic telecommunication and electronic media representatives will participate in the conference.
Daniel Cop, Regional Manager Baltic & Pan-Europe of SES SIRIUS, will open the conference and introduce Lars Anderson, Technical Manager of SES SIRIUS, who will talk about the new SIRIUS 4 satellite - technical specifications and solutions in the Baltic countries, as well as Kai Struckmann, lawyer at White &Case LLP (Belgium) who will explain the EU legislation aspects of digital switchover. During the second part of the conference, Kaspars Ulsts, CEO of Media Planning Group and Council member of Latvian Advertising Association, will give an overview of new trends and future aspects of TV advertising. Malte Mornhart, Sales Manager of APS International will present the development of interactive TV and company’s new service BLUCOM. As a conclusion, Benny Norling, Vice President, Products and Business development of SES SIRIUS will take a closer look at the High Definition Television (HDTV).
